Armenian Advertising Market

Armenian Advertising Market

How Armenians watch, and how advertising budgets are currently spent.

Market overview

Armenia is a small, mobile-first advertising market of roughly 2.8 million people. Around 80% of the population uses the internet (an estimated 2.3–2.4 million users), and mobile connections exceed the total population as most people carry more than one SIM. Even so, television remains the country’s leading advertising medium by budget, and it is the one medium that reliably reaches audiences outside Yerevan.

Television is still the leading medium

Advertising budgets on Armenian TV are typically split between the public broadcaster and commercial, independently owned channels. Outdoor (OOH) advertising is generally the second-largest traditional channel by spend, though the shift to digital out-of-home has been slow and static formats still dominate. Radio remains a cost-effective option, especially for local and regional advertisers, while print continues to decline and online press increasingly picks up PR and sponsored-content placements instead.

TV sales-house structure & the regional opportunity

Ad-sales representation for Armenian television has historically been concentrated among a small number of representation houses, which between them account for the large majority of national audience and TV ad investment. Independent and regional channels have typically captured a share of investment noticeably smaller than their share of audience — in other words, regional reach in Armenia tends to be under-monetised relative to how many people actually watch it.

That gap is exactly where Saleshouse Armenia focuses: packaging regional and independent broadcast inventory into schedules that national and international advertisers can plan, book and measure with the same confidence as a national buy.

Digital & audience trends

Armenia’s digital advertising market has grown steadily, moving from roughly $40 million a few years ago toward continued mid-single-digit annual growth across formats such as social and video. Facebook and Instagram remain the largest social platforms, and improving mobile and broadband speeds are making video-based ad formats more viable. For most advertisers, digital is best read as a fast-growing complement to television’s reach — not yet a replacement for it.

What this means for advertisers

  • Television remains the single medium with the broadest reach across Armenia, including outside Yerevan.
  • Regional TV inventory is comparatively under-bought, which usually means more efficient reach per budget for advertisers willing to plan it in.
  • Multi-market campaigns benefit from a single negotiating desk rather than separate deals per broadcaster.
  • Digital spend is growing quickly and works well alongside TV, particularly for younger, mobile-first audiences.
